Centrifugal clutch
secured to the engine crankshaft. The chain should never be too
tight! You should have at least one inch slack. See letter A
above. Place your finger on chain between the centrifugal clutch
drive sprocket and the drive sprocket and depress to be certain
you have at least one inch play, then tighten engine bolts.

Go Kart Dave recommends placing your kart
over a "clean" area when removing or replacing a master
link. This will enable you to locate the master link clip in the
event it should be dropped

Step
3.
Use a flat screwdriver, push off the chain master link clip.
Remove the master link.
Step 4.
An older chain may have stretched. To replace the chain count the
links in the chain and order a new chain with the same number of
links.
Step 5.
Remove the bolt, lockwasher and washer holding the clutch to the
crankshaft if so equipped or remove the two set of screws located
on the engine side of the clutch.

Note: The engine
mounting bolts painted red - WARNING! - Do not fully
tighten one bolt! First, snug down all four bolts in sequence shown
in photo when you have determined the chain is adjusted properly.
Moving engine forward (toward seat) will tighten chain.

A typical engine
mounting platform painted yellow so that you can see the long
slots into which the engine mounting bolts are inserted. Notice
how the engine can be moved forward (facing the seat) or backward
in these slots to adjust tension on the drive chain. The numbers
show the sequence in tightening the engine mounting bolts.

Step
6.
Pull clutch off the engine crankshaft, the keyway will also come
off with the clutch.
Step 7.
To replace either the clutch or the chain, simply reverse the
above described procedures.
Step 8.
To lubricate the new clutch see
lesson one. A new chain will already be lubricated. If you
wish to lubricate the chain, use any chain lube available in a
spray container.
